Building an online world is a massive undertaking, but building a platform that enables every person on the planet to build their own online world—and then experience that world in virtual reality—is a storytelling opportunity unlike any other.

With virtual reality finally hitting the mainstream, High Fidelity’s leadership felt that most software and hardware makers were still thinking way too small. Every major application out there was still just about the consumption of media—playing video games or watching TV and films.

High Fidelity believes virtual reality will soon allow entirely new kinds of human interaction—other ways to experience travel, more immersive ways to learn, better ways to connect and engage with one another.

In order to do this, they built the necessary back-end infrastructure: powerful graphics engines, distributed servers, and a full-fledged crypto-economy—and because of their commitment to the individual, not the corporation, they did it all using an open source model.

From a brand perspective, this meant distilling this big, complicated proposition down to a single, universal story about empowering more human connection. And the design language we created enabled High Fidelity to share the purity of their unique vision, while staying true to the infinite variety of expression that exists in this world and the virtual one.
